Counseling Services

Tailored therapeutic services designed to meet your unique needs and help you become the best version of yourself.

Individual Counseling

Individual Counseling

Personalized one-on-one therapy for those seeking support with anxiety, depression, life transitions, and personal growth.

Learn more

I mostly use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) techniques for treating anxiety and depression, as well as mindfulness and relaxation techniques. I also use the "Brain Hacks" book, by Lara Honos-Webb, to help my clients with ADHD learn how to overcome their executive functioning skills deficits.

Couples Counseling

Couples Counseling

Strengthen your relationship and improve communication. Work together to navigate challenges and build a healthier partnership.

Learn more

For couples, I use an eclectic approach, including the Gottman Method and Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT), with other techniques, such as Imago therapy, Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), and Chapman's 5 Love Languages, as well. I sometimes focus on helping couples who are deciding, or have already decided, to separate and/or divorce, learn how to co-parent effectively with one another, as this is crucial for the benefit of their children. Having personally been through this myself in the past, I feel that I have a unique experience of how to make the most of co-parenting.

ADHD Therapy

ADHD Therapy

Specialized support for managing ADHD in everyday life. Develop strategies and skills to improve focus, organization, and daily functioning.

Learn more

For treatment of ADHD, I use Lara Honos-Webb's book "Brain Hacks," and have my clients take a self-assessment to determine which of her five core skill areas they find to be problematic. Next, we focus on specific techniques, or "hacks" that will help you to overcome executive functioning skill deficits in whichever of the five core skills you find most problematic, which can vary over time. The five core skills areas are: focus and attention, planning and organization, cognitive flexibility, emotional regulation, and impulse control.

Family Counseling

Family Counseling

Navigate difficult family transitions and improve dynamics. Build stronger connections and healthier communication patterns.

Learn more

When working with families, I often help parents and their children learn how to communicate more effectively with one another, by listening more to one another, as they navigate through difficult transitions across the life cycle, to improve their family dynamics. I have extensive experience with helping both adolescents and young adults work with their parents to obtain their independence and help families learn how to build stronger connections and healthier communication patterns with one another over time.

Holistic & Client-Centered

Every person and family is unique in their own way. I tailor my approach to meet your individual and/or family needs, drawing from a range of proven therapeutic methods I have obtained over the entirety of my career in counseling.

For over 35 years, I have enjoyed being an agent of change that aims to help others become the best version of themselves that they can possibly be. I have been told by my past clients that I am warm, friendly, empathetic, and a good listener. I am here to help you achieve whatever goals you would like to achieve, to help enrich and enjoy your life to the fullest, because that's what life is all about!

Although I employ a lot of CBT/DBT techniques in my work, I also have unique experience in combining theatrical elements into the therapy I do. I have extensive experience in working with issues including executive functioning skills deficits/ADHD, self-harm, substance abuse, psychiatric disorders, and parent/child or couples' relationships.

I reside in Wilmington, NC, and am available for in-person sessions five days a week but have maintained my professional licensure in Virginia as well and see several of my clients from Virginia and North Carolina via teletherapy sessions throughout the week. I personally enjoy using CBT, DBT, ADHD, and Theatre of the Oppressed techniques in my sessions.
